Now that the news is out and official details are available on Chatterbox, we are excited about what this announcement brings to the file sync & sharing market and cloud-based business in general.
We at EMC Syncplicity agree wholeheartedly that business users should be able to simply access, share and manage their files as easily as they share photos with friends and family on Facebook, and across all their devices. As we posted earlier this week, "Sync" is key for a simple way to ubiquitous file access on every device while breaking down the sticky barriers between the apps and file servers where all of this business content lives.
Equally as important is trust. Businesses should not have to choose between the need for simple, easy to manage tools for end users and the needs of IT departments for security of content, compliance, governance, and user support. This is our core belief, and as a member of the EMC family, we offer industry-best security, service and support.
As for Salesforce.com’s claim that they will have the first file sharing solution designed for the enterprise that will allow users to share, collaborate on, and manage files across their company? All we can say is, welcome! This is further validation that businesses are demanding something beyond what consumer-oriented products have to offer, and we are incredibly excited about what we will be bringing to market later this year and in early 2013.
